In a historic vote tallied October 17, the entire Lake Don Pedro Owners Association Board was recalled.
Lew Richardson, Bill Kinsella, Ken Kennedy, Charles Day and Victor Afanasief were voted out of office; Sally Perez had already resigned.
The margin of votes favoring removal was roughly 3-to-1 in the case of Kinsella, Richardson and Afanasiev, and slightly less (about 2.4-to-1) for Charles Day and Ken Kennedy.
According to the recall committee, 1,017 ballot envelopes were received.
There were 24 envelopes received that had no signatures on the outside of them, so they could not be counted; another 82 were of questionable eligibility. Out of those 82, six were eligible and the remainder were not, which indicates that they were not members in good standing.
There was one ballot envelope that had two ballots in it. This, too, had to be voided because there was no way to determine which owner did this, since it is a secret ballot.
There were a total of 916 ballots counted. The count was reported as follows:
Victor Afanasiev: Remove, 676 votes; Do not remove, 225.
Charles Day: Remove, 638 votes; Do not remove, 260.
Ken Kennedy: Remove, 632 votes; Do not remove, 262.
Bill Kinsella: Remove, 684 votes; Do not remove, 215.
Lew Richardson: Remove, 676 votes; Do not remove, 217.
The recalled board members will hold their positions until a new board is elected.
Sherri Flosi of the recall committee said nominations have already been requested and there are eight potential candidates that will run to fill the board seats.
“The LDPOA attorney said everything is in order to print ballots,” according to Flossi. “They are working on setting a date for the counting of the ballots. It will probably be sometime in the beginning of December.”
